How we met

Feb. 17, 2008 - Sherida's account

Once upon a time, we were both students of University of Benin, Accounting Department. Collins was the outgoing, very social and popular guy! He was one of the ``happening guys``, into school politics, sports and the like. I, on the other hand, was the direct opposite! I was very reserved as such thought I wasn’t visible but knew everyone and all the happening cliques. I was a loner of some sorts! I kept to myself, didn't have any friends and generally minded her business. Therefore it was no surprise that our paths never crossed... until February 17, 2008, when I was involved in a car accident and was admitted in University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH). Collins and I had lots of mutual friends but we were unaware of this! lol. One of those friends is Obazeme, he brought his ``crew`` which included Collins to see me at the hospital. After the visit, one of them suggested that we pray, and went on to lead a very powerful prayer session; it was such a heartfelt prayers that the nurses commented on how touched they were! lol. Guess who prayed?? Collins!! (Little did he know he was praying for his future wife!)

Reconnected

Feb 2017

Fast forward to 2017 I got a Facebook invite from Collins and noticed it was a familiar face. I accepted the invite and had a brief chat with him. I didn’t pay much attention to my chats as I thought it was just a usual reconnection with old school friends. But he kept sending me messages and requesting to talk “when I’m free”. I decided to pay attention to his messages as I was curious to know what he wanted to “talk” about. I messaged him and he immediately asked for an alternative means of communication as I never reply my chat messages. I gave him my number and we started talking on WhatsApp, then phone calls back and forth and finally graduated to Skype. We would talk for hours on end… We can gist for Africa! From our conversations, I found out that we had the same taste and love for music and had so much in common!! In the past 8 months, the longest we have been incommunicado is probably 4 - 6 hours! We haven't missed a day without speaking in the last 8 months!! The more we talked, the more he grew on me. We became best buddies! We talked about any and everything! What struck me most about Collins is his love for God! I initially thought he was forming ``church boy`` because he had heard I am a ``church girl`` but with time I saw he genuinely loved God and was very passionate about the things of God. I wasn't ashamed to be myself with him! I wasn't afraid of being labeled ``spirikoko`` as other guys did when they find out I’m not a ``slay queen``.

How he Proposed

Jul. 21, 2017

July 21, 2017 Collins asked me to marry him as casually but seriously as he can be. I said yes... and as they say, one thing led to the other and now we are here! I’m getting married to the love of my life, the man who loves my ``big`` self and makes me feel so beautiful! I love you more than words can describe baby and cannot wait to be your Mrs.!

We are getting married

Dec. 7, 2017 - Collins Account

Sherida and I were classmates at the University of Benin were we studied Accounting and had no one on one relationship as it was a large class with a different group of friends. My very first meeting with her was at the hospital when she had an accident and my friend ask we go see her and prayed with her. Fast forward to 2017, we had a mutual friend who was my childhood friend and almost brother - Iyke Okpara who is also a mutual friend of Sherida. He wanted to introduce me to her but to his amazement, I told him that I knew her already. We were old college mates. We got talking and I found out we shared so much in common. I looked at her value system, her love for God and I had no doubt in my heart she was the one. I prayed about it and found PEACE within. IN July, when she visited me in PortHarcourt while on vacation, I asked her to marry me and she said yes! She is the most amazing woman I have met. ( yeah). From the moment she said “YES “till now, it’s been a great having her in my life. I love you –SHERIDA and can’t to spend forever with you!
